Ludum Dare #48 -- And Future of Legacy

- Ludum Dare Game Jam

I entered another game into Ludum Dare, which is my favorite jam of them all!

My game is called Hector's World (or Forge, I sort of messed up naming it).  It's not a game so much as a mining simulator taking place in an endless* voxel 3D world.  You can mine as far and deep as you want* but currently the inventory system doesn't work and you can't buy upgrades.  And there's no enemies to attack you.

*At least until the game crashes because it hasn't been thoroughly tested!

You can download and try it out if you want.  Note: If you have low frame rate, try the Optimized version.  It lowers the visual quality but triples the frame rate -- at least on my machine!

- Legacy of Kalevala March April May June July Update

I am ashamed that I let this slide as long as I have.  But I assure you, I have been very busy with Legacy!  The first big news:

I am renaming the game!  It will now be called Relic of Kaleva.

Why the change?

Well, the most pressing one: There is already a game out there with the Legacy of Kalevala title and they beat me to release.  So I am deferring to their first claim of the name and will be changing my game name in turn.

Second:  I've always felt the that Kalevala title was too close to the actual Finnish Kalevala mythical book and it's caused confusion for people when they expect my game to be based directly on the historical Kalevala.  So I thought it was time to change the name to better reflect my intention for the game:  To tell a science fiction story taking inspiration -- but not be a direct retelling of -- the Kalevala.

New Showreel

I will have a new video demonstrating the last few months of work uploaded soon, so you will get to see my progress in these last few months!

Supporting Me

I've been asked a few times about creating a Patreon.  So I am in the progress of doing so.  I haven't decided yet what the perks will be, but it will definitely include behind-the-scenes content and raw work-in-progress looks at the game.

Take care all!

Hi! Just checking in, since it's been about three months and I figured that lines up with the usual gap, how's everything going? I'm not sure if I missed the show reel you had planned, or if you've just never gotten around to it, but that'd always be neat to see.

Well, until next time, since I'm not super sure if you respond to these.
